childofthe-nephilim asked: So I just discovered your blog and have been going through it for a while now and I've seen you mention programs that you wish you knew about before you were in college. What kind of programs are you talking about exactly? Are they for high-schoolers? I'm almost a junior in high school and would like to participate in anything that would help or give me an advantage when I become a pre-med student. Thanks in advance!

Hey!

Well, some universities have 6 or 7 yr BS/MD programs (I know BU does and I think Baylor does too) and you have to apply when you are in High School. I would have applied to a lot of them since getting into one and getting a BS and an MD in 6 or 7 years would save both time and money and it would be less stress.

On the other hand some medical schools have early acceptance programs you apply to early in your degree ( freshman or sophomore year). Although I got into one of these programs, I wish I had found out earlier about them and applied to many if not all. I only found out about these opportunities when I had way to many credit hours done to meet the qualifications for most.

I suggest you google or go to your advisor to find out which universities offer these kinds of opportunities.

Good luck!
